It has always been our ambition for the brewery to be more than just a place to brew beer. We wanted to share our passion and open our doors so that we can welcome people in to see and experience what we do. We want to invite you to come and see us, sit back and enjoy a pint of your favourite Bowness Bay beer or lager.
Many of the features in the Barrel House have been repurposed and up-cycled which creates a unique atmosphere. One of our favourite features is the bar, crafted from a 200-year-old piece of oak from Bowness-on-Windermere, which is the place the brewery was originally founded.
The theme is continued with reclaimed scaffolding planks for the floors, and custom-made tables by a Cumbrian artisan blacksmith and metalworker Ellie Barden of Grace Forge. Outside we have reimagined old horse field shelters to create cosy and comfy booths where guests can relax and enjoy their pints.
Located in one of our former brewery buildings The Barrel House is located only five minutes from Kendal town centre at our Castle Mills site.
